New Year, New Plans!

New Year, New Plans!

Here we are, another year, so it's a good time to make new plans, although in this case, they're somewhat of a necessity. Now, I'll just preface this by saying I am not begging for donations or anything like that, but this right now doesn't make enough for me to survive on. That means I need to enter the big bad world of job hunting and find a way to keep a roof over my head and the lights on.

Now, I am not giving up on this site or my writing as this is what I want to do, it's what I enjoy doing and I plan to keep doing it I just need to be a bit more realistic at present. I'll be trying to increase my social media activity on Twitter and Bluesky as well as I think that will help but anyway, enough of me rambling!

In short, I'll likely have less time to write for the foreseeable future so, expect sporadic things over the coming year. Though I still have plans, let's explain them a bit.

Reviews, Look Backs at Old Games & Early Looks I still plan on:

  • Starsector.

  • Age of Darkness Final Stand.

  • World in Conflict.

  • Heroes of Might & Magic 3 + 4.

  • Mech Engineer.

  • Terra Invicta.

  • Original War.

  • Independence War 1 + 2.

  • Shadow Empires.

Those are in no particular order, just things I am considering looking at in a review sense over the next year time allowing. A lot of indie and older games in there simply because they are things I enjoy. That isn't all I have planned though, I mentioned last year about bringing the sort of roleplay gameplay diary back (which I did a long time ago for Elite Dangerous) and that is still very much on the cards. That and Let's Plays made into written stories is also a possibility in the future.

I haven't fully decided which game I will use for said gameplay diary though there are a lot of potential options that could be considered similar or have the same potential. Here are some of the things I am looking at.

  • X4: Foundations. Kind of an obvious one and the current leading favourite if I am being entirely honest. It has all the elements that made Elite a good choice with even more on top given you build an empire within it too.

  • Starsector. As above, another sandbox space game though more based on fleet building and combat and less so toward empire building unless I download the mod for it (tempting!)

  • Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Free roaming empire building but within a fictional medieval land, again I'd likely mod this to make it more suitable for a story-driven gameplay diary.

  • Dwarf Fortress. I haven't bought this yet but it has all the emergent storytelling possibilities of Rimworld without me needing to splurge on pricy DLCs.

  • Songs of Syx. I do have this one and it has some similarities with Dwarf Fortress though this would also be something of a learning let's play too. As in I'd write in my failed cities too and learn as I go and turn it into a story.

As with the reviews, these aren't the only options I am looking at just the best choices I've found so far, if you have other ideas for games that would fit a story-like gameplay diary then feel free to suggest them!

So, in short, I am not giving up on this but I won't have the time to focus on it for a while so there's no timeframe for when I'll start any of it just yet. In the meantime, I'll likely be sharing screenshots and general gaming stuff on my socials and if you do like what I do enough consider donating something via Ko-Fi, every little will help!

Speaking of which, here are my socials and links. I know they are at the top of the page but still here they are again.
